The military will formally discipline at least six officers, most from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, for failing to take action against Fort Hood gunman Nidal Malik Hasan, according to people familiar with the matter.

Officials said the move reflects the military’s belief that the Nov. 5 assault could have been prevented if Hasan’s superiors had alerted authorities to his increasing Islamic radicalization.

Dallas News reports.  Judge Pohl has been scheduled to start the Article 32, UCMJ, hearing on 1 March.

The Army said Monday it has appointed an investigating officer for an Article 32 hearing, which will determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a court-martial for Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who’s charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder in the deadly shooting rampage on Nov. 5 at Fort Hood’s Soldier Readiness Center.

An airman shot during a disagreement with a fellow airman appeared indecisive about what actually happened in a Rapid City apartment last September.

Piland recalled fighting with Santana and holding him in a choke hold, but did not remember statements he made to civilian investigators. He also had no recollection of portions of his testimony before a Pennington County grand jury.

Santana initially faced charges in Pennington County for shooting Piland three times. Those charges were dropped and he was turned over to military authorities for prosecution in October.

The Article 32, UCMJ, hearing for a Coast Guard O-6 accused of fraternization, adultery, and other offenses with enlisted and junior officer personnel is finished.  An IO report is pending and then a CA decision.  If the information reported as to the general nature of the case is true then it looks like the O-6 is on his way to trial or an OTHIL if he’s lucky.

A young Coast Guard petty officer faced the military courtroom with tears in her eyes Wednesday and told the two teams of lawyers the intimate, personal details of her sex life with her former lover, who was sitting across the room at the defense table.

The woman, who is the second lover to have taken the stand so far in the proceeding, told the court the captain had been her best friend up until the abrupt ending to the affair.

Having now admitted to murder, Fort Lewis Spc. Ivette Davila today awaits word on whether she will face the death penalty for it.

Davila, 23, an Army chemical specialist, is charged with killing Staff Sgt. Timothy Miller and Sgt. Randi Miller in their Parkland home March 2, 2008, soaking their bodies in muriatic acid and kidnapping their 7-month-old daughter.

I just commented on two incidents involving suspicious actions by soldiers; one at Fort Campbell and one near Fort Leonard Wood.

A box of hollow-point bullets and an anonymous note threatening an incident like the one at Fort Hood, Texas, were discovered Thursday at Fort Benning, Ga., sparking a criminal investigation and greater police presence, a witness told Army Times.According to a witness at the scene, a box of 20 hollow-point shells and a handwritten note were found in the motor pool area between 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 29th Infantry, under the 197th Infantry Training Brigade.“The note said ‘tell the commanding general to call off all charges or there will be a re-enactment of Fort Hood,’ ” the witness told Army Times. He spoke on condition he wouldn’t be identified.
