LTC Lakin 2

I had to go to the bank, pet store, and commissary today so I stopped off to watch the arraignment.

There was a standard R.C.M. 802 conference.

The Army script was followed.

LTC Lakin exercised his right to retain MAJ Kemkes and Mr. Jensen, and did not ask for IMC.

LTC Brodsky was present as ATC.

LTC Lakin confirmed on the record with the military judge his knowing, intelligent, and affirmative unconditional waiver of his Article 32, UCMJ, investigation.

Motions and witness requests are due:  20 August 2010.

Replies are due 27 August 2010.

Two Article 39(a), UCMJ, sessions have been scheduled for 2 September 2010 and 14 September 2010.

Trial is scheduled for 13 – 15 October 2010.

The military judge closed with the standard R.C.M. 804 warning.

  1. Thanks for the update, Phil. Now I can plan my calendar accordingly.

I’m curious about whether any of LTC Lakin’s supporters made it to the arraignment. They were being assured by safeguardourconstitution.com that they would be able to speak with him afterwards, but one of the posters at Doc Conspiracy’s site wrote that he was ordered not to speak with the press and that he was immediately escorted back to Walter Reed.

I counted nine possibles in court; one of them a V-N vet who decided to stay covered during the proceedings. They were (as counseled with AFP) quiet and respectful otherwise.

BTW the new courthouse is, IMHO, not an improvement over the old one, but perhaps it’s only a temporary fix? There was less seating than at MDW or in the old Fort Belvoir courtroom.

    Two other print media only.
I think it fair to say that the event wasn’t drawing a crowd.
I’m not sure how much of that might have been a function of the ease or lack of ease in getting onto base if you don’t have a DoD sticker and ID.
Security was certainly prepared for large numbers and a potential disturbance.
You will recollect that just this week there was a demonstration at Quantico in regard to Manning.

Thanks for the info. The birthers have a propensity to exaggerate their numbers, so I was wondering how many actually showed. I see that CNN had someone there – did you see any other news media?

The Obama trolls have infested this forum putting out false information regarding his natural born citizen status.

Do not believe them. Obama is not a natural born citizen.

It matters not where Obama was born. He cannot be a natural born citizen based on the citizenship of his father.

DancingRabbit is certainly entitled to have an opinion on Obama’s eligibilty status. But that’s all it is, a personal opinion.

And yet President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama II is.
He won 69.4 million popular votes and recieved a concession speech congratulating him on his victory from Senator McCain. He garnered 365 Electoral College votes, counted and certified as valid by Vice President Dick Cheney with no objections from any of the 535 members of Congress; he was sworn in taking the Oath of Office on Inauguration Day from Chief Justice John Roberts; he was handed the keys to the White House by George W. Bush; he was handed the nuclear football with the launch codes to every nuclear warhead in the US arsenal by the outgoing Director of Central Intelligence; he’s been challenged on his eligibility in courts all across the land, at every level of the judiciary 71 times with no ruling of his ineligibility including 8 denials of Petitions for Writs of Certiorari at the US Supreme Court in Berg v Obama, Beverly v FEC, Craig v US, Donofrio v Wells, Herbert v Obama, Lightfoot v Bowen, Schneller v Cortes and Wrotnowski v Bysiewicz; he was invited as the 44th President to address both the Republican House Caucus and the Republican Senate Caucus without one single question being asked about his natural born citizen status.

He’s signed hundreds of pieces of legislation into law, appointed two Supreme Court Justices and had them both confirmed by the Senate; he’s ordered 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan after the approval of both Houses of Congress; he withdrew all combat troops from Iraq by the end of this month, and he’s served as the 44th President of the United States for more than a year and a half now.

Oh, and he’s had one court, the Indiana Court of Appeals rule that the citizenship of his parents has no bearing on him qualifying as a natural born citizen for Article 2, Section 1 purposes as long as he was indeed born in Honolulu, Hawaii at 7:24 pm on August 4, 1961, as it says on his Hawaii Certification of Live Birth.
